Church of Christ - is what we call ourselves, for this is the way the Bible calls an assembly of Christians (Rom. 16:16). We call ourselves Christians because we believe in Christ as our only Savior (John 14:6). We also believe He is the Son of God (Matt. 16:16), and we confess his oneness with God the Father (John 1:1-14, 14:9). As much as it is possible, we are trying to approach the study of the Bible without any preconceived attitudes and to apply the teaching of God in our lives.
We are seeking God's holiness. Realizing that we may make mistakes, we hope for His mercy.
Any teaching that is not based on the Biblical truth we treat with mistrust. We understand that mere quoting the Scriptures does not automatically make a teaching truthful, because Satan tempted Jesus with partial quoting of the Scriptures (Luke 4:10, Psalms 91:9-11). For this reason we look at the quotes from the Scriptures in their literary, historical and cultural context.
We obey what Jesus said to Nicodemus about the Kingdom of Heaven: "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (John 3:5). Therefore we call people upon conscious repentance and immersion in water for the forgiveness of their sins. We believe that in the baptism one receives a gift of God which is the Holy Sprit that lives in him/her from then on (Acts 2:38).
We get together every Sunday:
Our congregation submits only to Jesus as to the Head of the Church (Ephesians 5:23-24) and is autonomous. Besides Jesus Christ, there is no other body of authority over us. We realize that the salvation granted by God can be lost (Hebrews 10:26-27). Every day we are waiting for Jesus to come back (2 Pet. 3:10).
